about roygbiv.guide
roygbiv.guide is a blog for those interested in Lightning Prisms based on BOLT12.
This website serves as a hub for prism users, developers, designers, and educators to share knowledge and insights about the design, development, architecture, and use of these special BOLT12 offers. If you're interested in understanding the intricacies of Lightning Prisms and how they can be effectively utilized, you've come to the right place.
This blog is a multi author blog. In the spirit of Value4Value, at the bottom of each post will be a BOLT12 Prism Offer that splits tips among the post's authors, editors, server operators, etc. The split distribution of each post is determined by the post's contributors.
The Projects
This website is only possible due to the following Open Source Software projects. These projects are the result of the Bitcoin++ Hackathon in Austin TX, April 2023.
User Experience
The user interface created during the hackathon was a standalone PWA Prism editor (now deprecated). This functionality now exists in Clams Remote. The original hackathon team members included the Clams Tech team Aaron Barnard and John Gribbin with UX design from Stephen DeLorme, and D++, a Bitcoin educator who presented the project.
Core Lightning Plugin
The magic of prisms is enabled by the Core Lightning plugin. It is written in Python. In all cases, Prisms are represented as BOLT12 offers. This plugin was developed primarily by Gudnuf and Nick Shoup, with input from farscapian.
Infrastructure
If you want to use prisms, you'll need a Core Lightning node running the prism plugin. During the hackathon Polar was used. Afterwards, we created LNPlay which helps you deploy one or more prism-capable lightning nodes to a docker engine. LNPlay was developed primarily by farscapian, with contributions from Gudnuf and Nick Shoup.
